Strategic Business Advisor

This role offers a broad scope of opportunities to work on space projects in Canberra.

The ideal candidate will bring strategic asset management expertise, performance metrics and capability planning skills, analytical and systems thinking abilities, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, and risk identification and mitigation competence.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing comprehensive asset management plans for products under sustainment within the ground/control and space segment.
  • Reviewing existing performance metrics and recommending changes to align with strategic capability outcomes.
  • Constructing Product Breakdown Structures (PBS) for the Control segment to identify and organize products requiring support.
  • Updating Life of Type (LoT) assessments and advising on obsolescence management to support sustainment funding and potential life extension planning.
  • Providing recommendations to transition from fragmented contract activities to strategic industry partnerships.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strategic Asset Management Expertise: Proven experience in developing and implementing asset management plans within complex defence environments.
  • Performance Metrics and Capability Planning: Ability to critically assess and redesign performance measures to align with strategic capability outcomes.
  • Analytical and Systems Thinking: Skilled in developing PBS, conducting LoT assessments, and applying structured analysis to inform sustainment and obsolescence strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Strong stakeholder management skills to align diverse interests to business objectives.
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Competence in identifying limitations in data quality, analytical tools, and predictive modelling.

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the work, you are required to hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by law.
