Job Description

We are seeking a qualified professional to join our clinical team in Sydney, Australia.

As a mental health counsellor, you will engage with clients over the phone, video, chat & email, demonstrating empathy and understanding.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide single session telephonic and video counselling, support and crisis management in a supportive and professional manner while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assess clients thoroughly to ensure appropriateness for short-term counselling.
  • Manage high risk calls and work closely with individuals at risk.
  • Refer clients to external resources or within WPO as part of our holistic approach.
  • Develop clear and concise treatment plans for clients.
  • Maintain clear clinical and task-oriented documentation in case management system.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Counsellor with accompanying Master's degree.
  • Minimum 2 years direct client-contact providing counselling or mental health services (post-qualification).
  • Registered with ACA/PACFA (counsellors).
  • Experience using short-term counselling modalities such as Solution-Focused, CBT, Mindfulness, Integrative, Systemic counselling.
  • Crisis intervention and supporting high risk clients beneficial.
  • Ability to work with clients presenting with substance abuse, situations of crisis, mental health symptoms and/or family/relationship-related concerns impacting personal or work performance.
  • Sensitive to clients' culture and flexible in using a telephone interpreter if necessary.
  • Proficient in using various contact methods - phone, video, email, text and live chat.
