About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Colocation Design Standards Team in a global infrastructure capacity. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for driving resilience, standards, and consistency in our colocation fleet of data centers worldwide.

This role has significant global impact, and we are looking for an engineer with well-developed technical knowledge of data center design and extensive experience in colocation environments.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Maintain Global Design Standards: You will work with leaders and Principal Engineers to set and update standards for colocation capacity, ensuring equivalent resilience in colocation data centers to AWS-owned sites.
  2. Support Deployment of New Products: You will support the deployment of new AWS products in colocation data centers in a consistent manner.
  3. Input into Global Design Standards: You will contribute to the development of global design standards and generational data center template designs.
  4. Collaborate with Regional Teams: You will work with regional colo engineering teams to review and accept proposed changes to site-specific infrastructure against our data center standards.

You will be part of a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Our team values diverse experiences and encourages candidates from various backgrounds to apply.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: A degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree with several years of qualifying experience in High Voltage substation designs (from 11kV to 230kV).
  • Experience: Several years of experience in engineering or construction, related to all aspects of HV design, preferably in data centers and colocation facilities.
  • Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of electrical design codes in different locations, experience working with Single Point of Failure (SPOF), and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Experience: Experience working on projects with generating and energy storage plants, micro grids, and end-to-end project delivery in large infrastructure projects.
  • International Standards: Strong knowledge of international standards and experience submitting and negotiating construction permits.
