Job Description

The role of Senior Underwriter involves providing high-quality underwriting assessments and supporting key activities that align with the company's strategic focus.

You will work closely with the Manager to develop an underwriting proposition that meets client needs and supports business growth.

Assist in managing a portfolio of insurance clients, including leveraging technology for optimized activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Referrals
    • Provide high-quality assessments of client referrals in line with risk philosophies.
    • Exercise judgment to ensure work is conducted within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Internal Governance and Training
    • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and their impacts on the market.
    • Contribute to regular maintenance of risk management policies and identify knowledge gaps within the team.
    • Deliver training to address identified gaps and lead or serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for internal systems.
  • Client Engagement and Training
    • Enhance relationships through engagement and training, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Client Auditing and Rules Auditing
    • Audit plans and conduct audits accordingly, including providing support for client activities such as quote due diligence and new client onboarding.
    • Participate in, lead, or approve external audits and review audit actions.
  • Client Strategy and Solutions
    • Develop innovative solutions for key clients, fostering a client-focused culture.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to produce desired outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience working in a life underwriting department at a senior level.
  • Experience handling underwriting for major products.
  • Competent user status for MS Office applications.
  • Good working knowledge of the life insurance industry regulations.
