Environmental Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and driven environmental specialist with expertise in site contamination management to contribute to the successful delivery of projects that will benefit our community.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and solutions-focused, experienced in carrying out assessments of soil to identify contamination, interpreting technical reports, and providing sound advice to the organisation on contamination issues.

They will also develop policy to set the direction of site contamination issues and be flexible to adapt approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the new Site Contamination Management Policy
  • Assist project managers with site contamination challenges and provide sound advice to deliver projects
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external authorities
Requirements
  • Tertiary degree in a relevant environment-related discipline (e.g. environmental engineering, soil science, hydrogeology, environmental management or similar)
  • Eligible for membership or certification by relevant industry technical scheme, e.g. EIANZ, SSA, IAH, Engineers Australia, ACTRA
  • Experience in carrying out assessments of soil to identify contamination, and ability to interpret technical reports from consultants relating to site contamination
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines relating to contaminated land, and experience in ensuring organisational compliance to these
