The role of Echo Technologist involves providing ultrasound diagnostic tests for patients as directed by physicians. This requires a strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology, as well as skills in operating ultrasound equipment and establishing effective working relationships with patients and medical staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform 2-D/Doppler/Colorflow ultrasound tests as required by physician orders.
  • Conduct transesophageal echo, stress Echos and contrast Echos procedures.
  • Schedule patient appointments and provide clear explanations of procedures.
  • Position patients correctly and select the most suitable transducer for each test.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Procure and store necessary ultrasound supplies.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication skills.
  • Show ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Meet education requirements: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory; an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Hold registration through ARDMS or CCI; those without Echo registration upon entering the job must secure it within 18 months.
