Aerial Surveyor Role

Geotrace Australia is a leading provider of underground locating and subsurface mapping services.

We are seeking a skilled Drone Pilot to join our aerial survey team and support a range of projects with high-quality drone data capture.

About the Role

As an Aerial Surveyor, you will be responsible for planning and conducting aerial surveys, inspections, and mapping using CASA-certified drones. You will capture accurate imagery and data to support utility locating, site mapping, and progress monitoring while ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CASA-certified drones for aerial photography, videography, and data collection.
  • Plan and execute flight missions according to project requirements and safety protocols.
  • Process and deliver high-quality orthomosaic images, 3D models, and survey data.
  • Ensure compliance with CASA regulations including REPL and REOC certifications.
  • Maintain drone equipment and keep flight logs up to date.
  • Liaise with site teams, clients, and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Monitor weather and environmental conditions to ensure safe flight operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid CASA Remote Pilot Licence (REPL) and Remote Operator's Certificate (REOC).
  • Proven experience operating drones for commercial or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of drone technology, flight planning, and data processing software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
