Empowerment and Employment Specialist

This is a challenging role that requires a strong understanding of evidence-based practices, specifically the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) Model. As an Inclusive Employment Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of participants with mental health disabilities and providing tailored support for their employment goals.

The IPS Model is a highly effective approach to supporting individuals with mental health conditions in achieving sustainable employment. This model focuses on building rapport, identifying employment opportunities, and providing ongoing support to ensure successful placement and retention.

As an Employment Specialist, you will work collaboratively with participants and local employers to create meaningful employment opportunities. You will strive to exceed individual and team performance targets, contributing to the overall success of the service.

About the Role
  • Caseload Management: Manage a caseload of participants with mental health disability and provide tailored support for their employment goals.
  • Service Delivery: Deliver services using the IPS Model, supporting participants through vocational profiling, job search, resume and interview preparation, placement, post-placement support, and ongoing support.
  • Partnerships and Collaboration: Build partnerships with local employers to create inclusive job opportunities and foster resilience, confidence, and long-term success in participants.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A relevant Certificate III or higher qualification in Employment Services, Community Services, Mental Health, or related field.
  • Experience in employment services, mental health support, or disability services, with a focus on building trust with participants and their supports.
  • Strong business development skills and local employer connections, as well as a current driver's licence and your own vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain all required clearances, including NDIS, Working with Children, and Police Check.
