About the Role:

This is a challenging opportunity to contribute to high-quality economic advice and analysis in a dynamic team. You will be working with the Federal Financial Relations branch, supporting key forecasting work in the Revenue Forecasting and Analysis branch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice and research on policy, financial, and economic impacts of vertical fiscal imbalance (VFI) and horizontal fiscal equalization (HFE)
  • Analysing priorities for reform and supporting engagement with Treasury, agency, and other jurisdictional stakeholders
  • Liaising with the Commonwealth Grants Commission as part of its annual work to determine GST distributions across states and territories

Requirements:

  • Holds a relevant tertiary qualification in economics, econometrics, statistics, public policy, law, research, evaluation, or related fields
  • Professional experience in providing policy advice, research, or economic analysis is highly favourable
  • Capable of conducting basic research and data analysis, including working with models and considering diverse policy perspectives
