Key Aspects of Our Native Android App

About The Athletic, we bring comprehensive stories about teams, sports, and athletes.

Our ideal candidate will own key aspects of our native Android app and contribute to core features and architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Design and Product teams to build beautiful, performant UI.
  • Architect and build the app for performance, growth, scalability, and ease of future development.
  • Write unit and functional tests to ensure code quality.
  • Investigate and fix user-reported production issues.
  • Brainstorm new product ideas alongside Design and Product teams.
  • Refactor existing code for improved quality of life.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience with native Android development in Kotlin.
  • Consumer-facing product and design instincts with a voice in product decisions.
  • Preferred experience in GraphQL, Jetpack.
  • Passion for sports and media is helpful but not required.

This role is 100% remote for candidates residing in Australia. We prioritize fast iteration without compromising quality.
