The Australian Public Service (APS) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our Acquisition team on the AIR2025 Ph6 JORN Mid Life Upgrade project. As a key member of the High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO) leadership team, you will be responsible for planning and determining the strategic direction of the unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic advice to senior management, including other project teams and internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplined project team, providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
- Oversee all aspects of complex project activities, including finance, commercial, technical, risk, schedule, human resources and Industry/Commonwealth stakeholder relationships.
The High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO) is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that offers rewarding opportunities in world leading capabilities and emerging technologies. We acquire, sustain, and export High Frequency radar capabilities for the Australian Defence Force, including the world leading Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar.
Requirements- 5+ years of experience in complex project management environments, preferably in Defence-related projects.
- Exceptional organisational skills, specifically the ability to oversee projects, prioritise commitments and meet critical deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Extensive knowledge in legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policies requirements.
- The ability to influence and develop strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of Defence objectives based on high-level decision making and judgement.
- Well-developed understanding of contemporary PM methodologies coupled with proven understanding of Earned Value Management, Project Controls, Scheduling and Risk Management.
- The ability to develop and mentor team members and identify opportunities to increase team capability to ensure continuous improvement.
