We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team at Ku-ring-gai Council. As an Environmental Conservation Specialist, you will play a key role in the delivery of Council's approved bush regeneration and pest species operational works program.
Salary: $61,142 - $72,458 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
Job DescriptionOur ideal candidate will have:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience, in natural area and bushland maintenance;
- Demonstrated experience in bush regeneration;
- A current C-class driver's licence;
- A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate;
- A current White Card Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate;
- An AQF3 Chemical Handling certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate;
- A chainsaw operator's certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate;
- Appropriate qualification relevant to Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations) or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate.
The successful applicant will be responsible for participating in the delivery of Council's approved bush regeneration and pest species operational works program, including but not limited to:
- Bush regeneration;
- Weed mapping;
- Tree planting;
- Weed control;
- Tree removal;
- Nursery work;
- Seed collection;
- Threatened species protection;
- Feral animal control;
- Where required, undertaking other bushland operational works including but not limited to asset protection zone, walking track and fire trail construction and maintenance, bushland educational activities, bushfire hazard reduction burning operations and emergency response to severe storm/weather events.
The Ku-ring-gai Council area is located 16 km north of the Sydney CBD and covers 84 km2. The area is home to 124,000 residents and boasts one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.
