About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our SRE function, you'll play a crucial role in building and shaping our services to meet high standards of reliability and efficiency.
This role is responsible for ensuring service level agreements are met, driving continuous automation and improvement of solutions, and working collaboratively with other teams to drive down operational costs and increase efficiency.
What will your day look like?
As a Site Reliability Engineer at ANZ, you'll be instrumental in helping build out our medium to long-term strategy for SRE within your domain. You'll apply SRE principles to ensure we build, monitor, and measure what's important.
You'll work closely with other SRE leaders and teams across ANZ to continually drive down the cost of operations, increase efficiency, and build a strong reliability culture.
You'll take ownership of complex and ambiguous problems, mentor other engineers through their challenges, and be a role model for technical execution.
You'll need to be comfortable with constantly learning new tools and techniques, running proof-of-concept evaluations to keep us on the leading edge.
We expect that you already have great ideas to share at our cloud guilds & user groups, along with industry Meetups.
What will you bring?
We're looking for an engineer who possesses some of the following skills:
- Expertise coding in one or more languages (Go, Java, Python, or other scripting languages)
- Expertise with common Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or Cloud Formation)
- Experience in cloud computing across one or more major public cloud providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Proficient with Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration tooling
- Experience working with operations and architecture groups developing scalable and supportable solutions
- Experience with common monitoring and observability tooling (Honeycomb, Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.)
While none of our engineers have all the skills above, they do all code. The particular language and tools used are not as important as your development skills and learning aptitude.
