Rail Network Coordinator

This role is pivotal to the operation of rail networks and involves managing day-to-day movements of trains and facilitating network access for maintenance activities on a 24/7 basis. The position requires working at the Orange Network Control Centre, with the possibility of operating from a backup facility in Mayfield NSW if needed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring conflict-free running of all trains and track work, issuing instructions to rail crews, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements and procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, ability to plan and prioritize tasks effectively, and excellent communication skills.
This position is suitable for entry-level candidates who are willing to undergo training and development within a dynamic operational environment.
Key Responsibilities- Authorize train movements and prepare accurate train authorities.
- Maintain awareness of train locations and progress, accurately recording particulars as required.
- Respond to emergencies and irregularities, providing timely reports.
- Ensure safe working practices, codes of practice, and procedures are adhered to.
- Plan train running to avoid conflicts, issue instructions to rail crews, and ensure events are correctly performed and reported.
- E nsure compliance with notices concerning alterations and additions to signaling, safe working equipment, and rolling stock.
- Process ad-hoc train paths received during shifts.
- Assist staff in reaching work destinations promptly for track work and testing network control equipment.
- Provide comprehensive briefings to relieving controllers at the end of each shift.
- Certificate IV in Rail Operations or ability to attain.
- Current driving license.
- Qualified in safeworking rules and procedures or ability to attain.
- Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate work activities in a dynamic operational environment.
