About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Operations Specialist to join our IT Operations team. This newly created role will focus on IT operations activities and risk management, working closely with our Manager, IT Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- First point of contact for IT Security Alerts and notifications
- Manage relationships with Security Operations Center (SOC) vendors, conduct security audits, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Conduct vendor/client risk and security assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) to audit and ensure proactive monitoring, investigation, and escalation of security incidents
- Review and recommend updates to security policies and standards, including management of the IT Risk Register
- Assess new infrastructure and application requirements to ensure they meet security standards
- Coordinate regular Security Penetration and Vulnerability Testing to identify and address potential security risks
- Develop and maintain detailed security documentation and roadmaps to ensure compliance and best practices
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cyber Security, or related qualifications and experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of security/systems administration experience, with a focus on security operations and risk management
- Experience with Microsoft security platforms, including Sentinel and Defender, as well as vulnerability management technologies like Tenable
- Knowledge of security principles and techniques, including endpoint detection and response, data encryption, PKI, DLP/IDS, and other relevant technologies
- Understanding of IT security-related standards and frameworks, including NIST and ISO/IEC 27000 series
- Familiarity with cloud computing, networking, firewall, and IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts
- Strong technical competence in Identity and Access Management, including Beyond Trust, AD, and Azure AD, federation, and cloud systems
- Experience with AWS and Azure, including understanding of architecture and SaaS/IaaS/PaaS solutions
