Leading Hydraulic Engineer for SA Water

At Randstad, we're partnering with SA Water to find an exceptional technical leader who will spearhead the hydraulic engineering discipline team. This is a pivotal role that requires expertise in overseeing and executing high-level technical investigations, designs, and governance related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess professional qualifications in civil or mechanical engineering, with proven experience in hydraulic engineering within the industry. They should have a deep understanding of hydraulic engineering procedures and practices as applied in the water industry and large engineering organisations.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology on various assets and diverse projects, while mentoring and leading within the team to achieve company strategies. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in hydraulic engineering, you will influence and contribute expertise across the Corporation, working with both water and wastewater infrastructure.
We estimate the salary for this role to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications. You will also enjoy flexibility to work from home, mentorship opportunities, employee assistance programs, and superannuation benefits.
The key responsibilities of this role include providing specialist design and technical leadership for SA Water hydraulic water and wastewater projects, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in hydraulic engineering, maintaining and enhancing technical governance, evaluating and recommending new and emerging technologies, fostering a collaborative work environment, promoting a safety-first approach, and ensuring timely and accurate communication with stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Professional qualifications in civil or mechanical engineering
- Proven experience in hydraulic engineering within the industry
- Detailed knowledge of hydraulic engineering procedures and practices as applied in the water industry and large engineering organisations
- Experience in the provision of investigation, option, concept, and detailed design of hydraulic infrastructure (water/wastewater networks)
- Demonstrated experience in the execution of novel, complex, and critical engineering investigations and designs
- Recognition of discipline expertise by Engineers Australia
