As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will be a vital partner to our newsrooms, ensuring financial discipline and supporting the creation of Australia's best journalism.
About the RoleYou will act as a strategic finance partner to editorial leaders, providing clear, actionable financial insights that drive business growth.
- Manage and control the entire Editorial cost base, focusing on staff and content-related expenses.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for all editorial cost centers, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
You will provide insightful analysis on financial performance, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and growth. This includes:
- Acting as a trusted advisor to editorial leaders, offering expert financial guidance and support.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including senior management and non-finance teams.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and improve financial performance.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience in finance or commercial accounting, with a degree and/or a CA/CPA qualification.
- Proven business partnering skills, including the ability to build trust and translate financial concepts for non-finance teams.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders.
- Expertise in core financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting.
- Experience in media/publishing, managing staff costs, and using systems such as D365, TM1, SAP, or Tableau is ideal.
