Key Responsibilities

The role of a Mechanical Fitter plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of heavy mining equipment and infrastructure.

  • Maintenance, repairs, and inspections on fixed and mobile plant equipment such as conveyors, pumps, crushers, draglines, and CHPP infrastructure are carried out.
  • Preventative and breakdown maintenance is conducted in accordance with site procedures and schedules.
  • Fault finding, diagnostics, and mechanical troubleshooting involve identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Records of maintenance activities are accurately maintained using CMMS systems.
  • Collaboration with other trades and production teams ensures minimal downtime and enhances equipment reliability.
  • Compliance with safety and environmental standards at all times is ensured.
Requirements
  • Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent) is required.
  • Experience in coal mining or heavy industrial environments is necessary.
  • Proficiency in fault-finding and troubleshooting large fixed plant and mobile equipment is essential.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and bearings is necessary.
  • A valid coal board medical and Standard 11 certification are mandatory.
  • A strong safety focus and proactive approach to risk management are crucial.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently is required.
