About the Role

The Integrated Assessment Research Scientist will join the Food Systems and Global Change Research Group in the Agriculture and Food Business Unit at CSIRO, Australia's national science and innovation agency. The role will focus on elevating the contributions of integrated assessment modeling to inform agri-food systems transition pathways in Australia and the region, with a particular emphasis on transitions towards net zero emission targets and Australian regional land use change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead integrated assessment model parameterisation and assumptions.
  • Run integrated assessment models and analyse model outputs to promote realistic, policy-relevant alternative development pathways for agri-food systems in Australia and abroad.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of research proposals.
  • Support the development of national and international research agendas related to net zero emissions pathways and integrated assessments in the agri-food sector.
  • Produce high-quality scientific papers suitable for publication in high-quality journals and for presentation at national and international conferences.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO's scientific objectives.
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field, such as agricultural science, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in integrated assessment modeling and agri-food systems research.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
