About the Role:
We are seeking an Aboriginal Mental Health Worker Trainee to join our team at the Shoalhaven Mental Health Hub.
As a key member of our team, you will provide case management, outreach, and recovery-oriented supports to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
You will work collaboratively with local health and support organizations to deliver mental health assessment, treatment, support, advocacy, and information services that prioritize cultural sensitivity and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal clients.
- Provide case management and outreach services to clients, including home visits and community-based support.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and provision of comprehensive services to clients.
- Assist clients in accessing community resources and services, promoting their rights and access to support.
- Support clients in crisis situations, developing safety plans to ensure their safe return home.
- Maintain a trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approach, promoting hope and resilience in clients.
- Complete client intake and referral processes, providing support in outreach settings.
- Support clients in recovery planning and goal setting.
Requirements:
- Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Identified role.
- Current enrolment or willingness to enrol in a suitable Cert IV Mental Health qualification.
- A sound knowledge of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander communities and relevant organizations within the Shoalhaven area.
- A demonstrated understanding of social and emotional health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- NSW Driver's license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently.
