Job Description:

As a Clinical Assistant, you will be working in a state-of-the-art laboratory with a dynamic team environment. You will be responsible for demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resilience and ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
  • Knowledge in pre-analytical processes including loading samples onto analysers, aliquoting, storage, retrieval of specimens, performing blood gases etc.
  • Basic laboratory processes and equipment maintenance skills or the ability to acquire them.
  • Effective use or learning to use the Laboratory Information System.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and initiative in the workplace.
  • Time management and prioritization skills in a highly process-driven environment.
  • Conscientious and accurate work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication with peers and scientific/technical staff orally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to focus in a busy complex environment.
  • Highly developed customer focus and experience dealing with various people.
  • Understanding of laboratory quality systems and NATA accreditation requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • No mandatory qualifications are required but a Certificate III Pathology (or similar) or the ability to gain this qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to work any rostered shift within a 24-hour 7-day service.
  • Participation in the Chemical Pathology roster and work a combination of weekday afternoon overnight and weekend shifts.
