About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Media Communications Specialist to join our team at Flexhive. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing our media presence, developing and implementing media strategies, and crafting clear and compelling messages for our senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Handle challenging media inquiries, maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, and act as a spokesperson for the department.
  • Media Strategy: Develop and implement media strategies to effectively communicate our messages, monitor media coverage, and provide timely advice to senior leadership on emerging issues.
  • Content Creation: Write and distribute press releases, craft messages for senior leadership, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and coherent messaging.
  • Issues Management: Proven experience in dealing with the media on hot-button issues, demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases, and strong understanding of the media landscape and issues management.
Requirements
  • At least two years of experience working in a media team at a Federal Government Department or Agency.
  • Proven experience in dealing with the media on hot-button issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality press releases and craft messages for senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and issues management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Baseline security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Australian citizenship is mandatory.
