About the Role

The Recreation Officer is responsible for designing and implementing recreational activities to enhance or maintain patients' physical and mental well-being.

This role works collaboratively with patients and multidisciplinary teams across various units within the healthcare facility. The goal is to support patients in achieving independence in their community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design innovative recreational activities tailored to patients' needs and abilities.
  • Develop effective communication and collaboration skills with patients and colleagues.
  • Monitor patient behavior during activities and report observations to the nurse in charge.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative in recreational activities.
  • Prioritize tasks, plan, and problem-solve to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and growth.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccination against certain diseases.
  • Certificate IV in Health and Community Services (Diversional Therapy) or equivalent relevant qualification.
