We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer Writer to join our team at Practical Law Australia. As a Senior Lawyer Writer, you will play a key role in creating high-quality commercial know-how resources for lawyers in both in-house and private practice environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date with commercial law topics and monitor legal, practice, and market developments relevant to lawyers in both in-house and private practice environments.
- Plan, research, write, draft, edit, and maintain premium quality commercial know-how resources, including practice notes, standard documents, checklists, and drafting notes for lawyers.
- Support internal peer review processes to ensure content is legally correct, kept continuously updated, and maintained to reflect all relevant legal developments and current market practice.
- Meet with external customers, industry, and sector experts to build a superior understanding of commercial law and related developments to ensure relevant and premium quality content is delivered that anticipates, meets, and exceeds customer needs.
- Provide legal expertise in responding to queries from external customers about commercial law and practice.
- Assist in the planning, development, and publication of commissioned content authored by commercial lawyers in private practice and in-house legal teams.
About You:
- Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia, with a minimum of 5 years+ PQE experience, working as a commercial lawyer, most recently in an in-house role or a top/mid-tier private practice.
- An established reputation as an expert in your field, with a genuine and demonstrable interest in commercial law and helping to re-invent the way legal know-how works.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with your manager and the rest of the Practical Law team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen ability to articulate and present your ideas, strategies, and decisions.
- A proactive, 'get it done' mindset, always looking for solutions and not shy about pursuing them.
