**Job Overview**:

The role focuses on managing vegetation to reduce bushfire risk, leveraging expertise in sustainable management practices and effective prevention measures.

This field-based position requires the ability to assess treatment options, develop operational plans, and engage with stakeholders, communities, and agencies on vegetation management.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legislative, environmental, and technical issues relevant to vegetation management and be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Key responsibilities include planning and implementing linear breaks, conducting property inspections, developing treatment plans, and providing expert advice on vegetation management.

The successful applicant will work closely with CFA brigades, volunteers, and other stakeholders to achieve fire prevention and vegetation management goals.

Requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification or demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative, environmental, and technical issues relevant to vegetation management.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to assess vegetation management risks, develop appropriate mitigation plans, and facilitate implementation of those plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, build, and maintain partnerships between key stakeholder groups.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to prepare high-level written advice, plans, and reports.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
  • Experience in working with diverse communities and volunteers.
