About the Role

AFL Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Trade Mark Attorney to join our client's team in Sydney. As a Trade Mark Attorney, you will be responsible for advising clients on trade mark issues, including searches, contracts, registration, prosecution, opposition, non-use, and licensing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake legal research and provide clear legal analysis of trade mark legal updates under the WIPO, world trade mark system.
  • Analyse and research the Amazon Brand Registry's terms of service and ensure that clients' trade marks meet the legal requirements of the local trade mark offices, in the UK and Australia.
  • Assist brands which plan to expand their Australian trade mark rights into the UK and EU.
  • Draft terms and conditions for clients, with a focus on Amazon's trade mark vetting system for Amazon Brand Registry applications.
  • Effectively resolve identified legal issues in filing trade marks in the UK for Australian clients.
  • Provide legal advice relating to Amazon seller clients' needs.
  • Partake in the firm's business development/marketing initiatives.

Requirements
  • You are a registered trade mark attorney in Australia (or a TM specialist in the UK nearing completion of studies/qualification in Australia).
  • You have knowledge of the UK legal system and trade mark processes.
  • You have a minimum of 2 years (or more) hands-on experience in and/or knowledge of UK and Australian TM filing/prosecutions.
  • You have specialist knowledge and experience of Amazon Brand Registry and their terms and rules relating to trade mark protection.
  • You have high attention to detail, strong communication/people skills, commercial acumen, and a positive energy.
  • You have proven experience in business development/marketing.
  • You are self-driven, teachable, and hungry to advance your career long-term with a successful visionary firm that encourages excellence/innovation and has the resources and commitment to support you to reach your full potential.
