Aboriginal Health Practitioner Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Aboriginal Health Professional to provide high-quality, comprehensive, and culturally appropriate primary healthcare services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living in the Greater Darwin Area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver primary healthcare services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve quality patient outcomes
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and communities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of healthcare programs and services that meet the needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Nursing and/or Certificate IV in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice)
  • Current registration as an AHP/Nurse with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in providing Primary Healthcare, utilising standard treatment manuals
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history and knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment
