National Infection Control and Prevention Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) professional to join our team as a National IPC Nurse Consultant. This is a permanent full-time position that will play a pivotal role in maintaining our commitment to upholding stringent infection prevention and control standards across our diverse range of healthcare facilities and services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to staff on infection control principles.
- Ensure the provision of quality clinical care, adhering to Australian Clinical Health Standards and healthcare benchmarking.
- Develop and implement effective IPC strategies, including the preparation of reports and action planning.
- Monitor and evaluate data related to hospital-associated infections, and implement improvements as needed.
- Review and develop IPC education and training programs, in conjunction with the education team.
- Conduct hand hygiene compliance audits and submit data to the National Hand Hygiene Initiative.
- Oversee staff health management, including immunization, occupational exposure, and respiratory protection.
- Implement standard and transmission-based precautions within the organization.
- A commitment to GenesisCare's purpose and values.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with a minimum 5 years of full-time equivalent post-qualification experience, including at least 3 years of full-time equivalent experience in IPC.
- Postgraduate nursing qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Accredited NHHI Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator or working towards.
- Previous senior nursing experience in a hospital environment.
- Proven experience in managing KPI datasets, including monitoring of activity targets and infection rates.
- Core knowledge of The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) national standards and implementation of quality activities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, consumers, carers, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety, and quality improvement.
- Affiliation and membership with professional IPC-related associations.
- Credentialled Infection Prevention and Control professional.
- Understanding of IPC risks and implications in large and geographically diverse organizations.
- Experience in undertaking and participating effectively in a team and collaborating across multidisciplinary services.
- Experience in accreditation processes, including preparation and participation.
- Experience in leading and participating in improvement projects.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating IPC education.
