Garment Technician Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with buyers to ensure that all garment styles meet their requirements for styling, fit, and workmanship.
  • Compile detailed technical packs for initial styles, ensuring all fit, key measures, workmanship and grading meets company standards and requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding quality, testing, construction, and fit issues to resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Manage and lead fit sessions, providing technical advice to buying teams while using time effectively and efficiently.
  • Nominate accurate and appropriate care labels along with correct fabric testing requirements to ensure quality meets the lifetime of the garment.

About You:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years' experience in a womenswear QA role, working in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification specialising in Fashion/Textiles or a related field.
  • Sound knowledge of garment construction, specifications, grading, and quality assurance with pattern making skills highly regarded.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Ability to manage workload with ease, prioritising tasks in line with deadlines.
  • Solutions-focused individual with a can-do attitude, able to problem solve and think critically.
  • Strong administration and technical communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
