About the Role

Sundrive is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Chief Engineering Officer to lead the development and implementation of our own internally built solar manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate will have a leadership background in equipment engineering and be responsible for developing and implementing engineering strategies that will enable us to meet our manufacturing objectives, improve our manufacturing processes, and drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Engineering Strategies
    • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with our manufacturing goals and objectives.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of our manufacturing line, including mechanical, software, and mechatronics engineering components.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work alongside the Head of Manufacturing to design the production line, suggest efficiencies, and highlight areas of future development.
    • Lead and mentor a team of Engineers and Technician Leaders responsible for the development and maintenance of our manufacturing line.
    • Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts between engineering and other departments, such as Operations, R&D, and Manufacturing.
  • Ensure Compliance and Project Management
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
    • Define and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to drive operational efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery of engineering components.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Equipment Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience
    • At least 15 years of experience with a focus on Hardware engineering, with at least 10 years of experience in a leadership role.
    • Leadership experience in start-ups and large multinationals, good business acumen, MBA degree.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Proven track record of delivering innovation within the product development field.
    • Demonstrated experience of product development process, ranging from ideation to concept development and manufacturing.
    • Strong knowledge of design mechanical, software, and mechatronics engineering principles, standards, and compliance.
    • Proven track record of leading successful cross-functional collaboration efforts.
    • Certified PMP and excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Familiar with agile project management methodologies.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
