Lead Data Science and AI Strategist

About the Opportunity:

This exciting role is designed for a seasoned Data Science expert to join our Reporting and Intelligence team.

The successful candidate will spearhead the development and implementation of a Data Science and AI roadmap that enhances patient-centric care and improves outcomes for cancer patients in NSW.

Key Responsibilities:

- Drive continuous learning across the Institute regarding how AI and data science can add value to our work;

- Oversee the development, validation, and testing of effective complex approaches relating to AI, data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization for generating insights;

- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, and lead the development and implementation of organizational-wide analytical tools and products using the latest technology;

Essential Requirements:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in computer science, machine learning, or a related discipline, preferably a doctorate degree in Computer Science or Data Science;

- Expertise in programming languages, such as SQL for data transformation; R, Python;

- Superior analytical skills including demonstrated ability conducting extensive data analysis and interpretation of healthcare evidence and improvement strategies;

- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of project management and implementation including management of multiple and concurrent complex projects with conflicting milestones and deadlines;

- Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders;

- The ability to motivate and influence staff collaborating on projects, particularly those who may not have direct reporting relationship;

- Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, and presentation skills;

- A passion for working in a collaborative environment that encourages diversity and inclusion;

- The ability to manage communications and relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to identify longer-term Analytics and AI requirements.
