Are you a creative and organized individual looking for a dynamic role that combines visual storytelling with collaborative teamwork?

We are seeking an experienced assistant picture editor to join our team, supporting the picture editor in responding to requests from various departments for high-quality photographic support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crafting compelling visual narratives by developing innovative ideas for illustrating stories and features
  • Liaising with journalists, editors, and production teams to ensure the seamless integration of images into our content
  • Designing engaging galleries, audio slideshows, and photo essays as directed by the picture editor or their representative
  • Edit images in line with our editorial guidelines
  • Sourcing images that enhance our site's creative direction

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working on a picture desk within the national media landscape
  • Detailed knowledge of picture agencies and archives
  • Experience of commissioning photojournalists
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop and post-production skills
  • A solid understanding of media law
