At Avant, we're seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our Sydney team for a permanent, part-time role. This position offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality legal advice and services in professional conduct matters to Avant Insurance claims managers and members.

About the Role

We're looking for a qualified solicitor with relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in medical negligence, professional conduct-related litigation, and criminal law. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated post-admission experience, preferably over 5 years, in conducting all phases of professional conduct cases.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, thorough, and effective legal services to achieve the best outcome for Avant's members.
  • Offer oral and written legal advice to members and Avant Insurance claims managers concerning professional conduct matters, including Medical Board investigations, Coronial inquests, Medicare reviews/Committees, HCCC claims, and preparing hearings for the New South Wales Civil & Administrative Tribunal.
  • Provide general medico-legal advice to Avant members and Claims Managers.
  • Represent members in legal proceedings, attend court, tribunals, or inquiries, and through clear and persuasive advocacy achieve the best outcome for the member.
  • Participate in a roster for providing telephone medico-legal advice to Avant members, including occasional after-hours availability.

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this role is between $120,000 to $180,000 AUD, depending on your experience and qualifications.
