Compositing Role in Framestore's Melbourne Studio

Framestore's Melbourne studio is seeking an experienced compositor to integrate elements and layers of a shot, whether live action or computer generated. This role requires the candidate to be based in or willing to relocate to Melbourne, Australia.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Compositing Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor to evaluate creative and technical approaches to assigned shots
  • Integrate 2D, 3D and live action elements to high-end visual effects film standard
  • Take briefs and direction from Lead Compositors and VFX Supervisors to execute assigned shots
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines
  • Take responsibility for own workload, time management and notes/feedback actions required by Supervisors
  • Balance creative and technical aspects of each shot
  • Work with a good knowledge of colour space principles

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years previous experience working in a film VFX pipeline, or 5 years full-time work experience as a substitute. A strong understanding of contemporary compositing techniques and demonstrated talent for seamless integration of live action and CG source are also essential. Additionally, a strong eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting is required.

Requirements:
  • Fluent in Nuke and/or other node-based compositing software
  • A critical eye for detail composition, colour and lighting
  • Ability to consistently produce work of a high standard and accept feedback
  • Flexible and able to work within timelines
  • Ability to quickly interpret supervisors' briefs and devise effective solutions
Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this role is between $80,000 to $120,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is a competitive offer that reflects the skills and qualifications required for this position.
