Job Description

We are seeking an experienced medical professional to fill the position of Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical management and treatment of patients in a South Western Sydney Local Health District facility under their care.

The role involves performing gastroscopies, ERCPs, EUS, outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and on-call support. You will work collaboratively with other staff and practitioners in a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing clinical management and treatment of patients in a South Western Sydney Local Health District facility under your care.
  • Performing gastroscopies, ERCPs, EUS, outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and on-call support.
  • Working collaboratively with other staff and practitioners in a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the RACP and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Health Insurance Act 1973.
  • Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice to contemporary evidence-based best practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including continuing medical education/continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including service provision to the local community, resources utilisation, and willingness to participate at an LHD level.
  • Preparedness to participate in hospital, service, or LHD on-call roster.
