About the Role

Mercy Community is seeking a qualified and passionate Case Worker to join their Assessment & Service Connect (ASC) program. This is a Permanent Full-Time position based in Ipswich.

As a Case Worker within ASC, you will work closely with the Department of Child Safety, Senior and Disability Services (DCSSDS) to ensure families are offered the best opportunity to address challenges they may be experiencing with the least possible intrusion into their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-respond with Child Safety Services during an Investigation & Assessment (IA) of harm or risk of harm to children and young people
  • Provide direct, brief intervention support to families throughout the initial assessment phase to maximise the chances of connecting them with the right services, at the right time and in the right place
  • Employ tailored, scaled responses to family needs based on ongoing, joint assessment and professional dialogue with Child Safety Services partners
  • Identify client needs and deliver appropriate services within available resources, continually assessing effectiveness
  • Support and provide opportunities for life and personal skill development for clients by role modelling expected behaviours

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology or related discipline from a recognised institution; or relevant Diploma or Certificate with previous relevant experience
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Child Protection system
  • Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver's Licence
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the legislatively required personal history check in line with service stream compliance requirements
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided
