Job Opportunity: Aboriginal Child Safety Specialist

About This Role

Strengthening the Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) sector in Western Australia is a priority for this role. As an Aboriginal Child Safety Specialist, you will provide training and support to Aboriginal organisations to implement child safety initiatives that align with cultural values and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Culturally lead and facilitate child safety implementation across WA's community service sector by collaborating with ACCOs, WACOSS, and government stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver tailored resources and capacity building programs for Aboriginal organisations to ensure effective child safety practices.
  • Build partnerships between CASWA, ACCOs, and sector stakeholders to drive strategic child safety initiatives through consultation, collaboration, and advocacy.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Deep understanding of National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and their application in Aboriginal Community-Controlled settings.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities, leaders, and organisations to deliver culturally responsive programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing, policy submissions, and project documentation.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, community consultations, and training sessions on child safety principles.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or professional experience in social services, child protection, community development, or a related field.
