Job Title

A prestigious research position is available in the Dynamics and Neural Systems Group, where you will contribute to novel methods for analyzing complex physical systems.

About the Opportunity
  • The University of Sydney is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on developing cutting-edge algorithms for analyzing non-stationary complex systems with applications to quantifying dynamical patterns in multivariate electrophysiological data of sleep dynamics.
  • You will have the opportunity to tailor your research according to your expertise and interests, from theoretical projects focused on characterizing non-stationary complex systems through to more data-driven applications of such methods.
Key Responsibilities
  • You will interact positively and productively with members of the Dynamics and Neural Systems Group.
  • You will develop new understanding of non-stationary complex systems through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.
  • You will develop efficient statistical algorithms for analyzing and inferring dynamical models from multivariate time-series data.
  • You will assist in the supervision of PhD and Honours students working on related topics, including the analysis of large-scale sleep recordings from a dynamical systems perspective.
Requirements
  • You must hold a PhD in a quantitative field, e.g., physics, mathematics, computer science.
  • You must have interest and experience in simulating and analyzing multivariate time-series data.
  • You must have interest and experience developing and working with open scientific software.
  • You must have interest in analyzing the dynamics of complex physical systems.
  • You must have interest in using statistical learning to infer dynamical models from data.
  • You must have a productive and collegiate attitude to working in diverse interdisciplinary teams.
