Technical Expertise for Space Exploration

The New Norcia Ground Station is seeking highly skilled individuals to join our team as Technical Support Specialists. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that contribute to Australia's growing space legacy.

As a Technical Support Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include performing technical and maintenance support tasks, installation assistance, operational reliability, launcher involvement, logistics coordination, and documentation development. You will be working with a dedicated team to ensure the smooth operation of our ground station and its various systems.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in installation activities, maintenance of cabling and optical fibre, or electronics equipment. Additionally, the ability to work at heights is a desirable skillset for this position.

About the Role
  • Perform technical and maintenance support tasks, including supervised technical tasks like maintenance on IT, RF, and electronic systems, working at heights on antennas.
  • Assist with cable, fibre, and electronics installations as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality work during time-critical maintenance periods to ensure station readiness.
  • Contribute to rocket launcher activities, occasionally outside normal hours.
  • Support shipment operations between New Norcia and European counterparts.
  • Assist in creating technical manuals, safe work procedures, and quality system documents.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications: Certificate of year 12 high school education.
  • Additional qualifications: Applicants with completed or significant progress towards trade qualifications, diploma or bachelor's degree qualifications in relevant technical fields such as engineering, IT or science may be eligible for appointment at higher grades.
  • Experience: Applicants with significant STEM experience may be appointed to higher grades.
