Position Overview

Gordon Brothers Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Australian Team as a Senior Associate in Valuations. This role involves collaborating within small project teams to deliver expert advice and conduct assessments of tangible business assets, including machinery, equipment, and inventory. These valuations will support various scenarios such as lending, accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and insolvency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive analytical support for ongoing and new valuation projects, including due diligence, analysis, and data collection to ensure the accuracy of information.
  • Evaluate financial and other relevant data pertaining to our clients.
  • Conduct research on valuations to provide valuable insights into comparable companies, transactions, industry trends, and market conditions.
  • Draft and prepare insightful and commercially focused valuation reports.
  • Engage with clients regarding business performance, inventory profiles, asset conditions, depreciation modeling, and marketability, among other key valuation factors.
  • Take ownership of project delivery within your team, serving as the primary individual responsible for preparing valuation reports in collaboration with analysts and investment professionals.
  • Conduct independent job inspections and client meetings as necessary.
  • Utilize critical thinking to identify issues and propose effective strategies related to the advisory services provided.
  • Foster positive, productive, and professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Expand and maintain professional relationships with existing clients and potential new clients.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with approximately 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • A degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business is advantageous, particularly with a demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • ASA certification or similar valuation qualifications are highly regarded.

Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with the Australian insolvency system is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in various valuation techniques and methodologies (e.g., market comparable, discounted cash flow) for different purposes (lending, insolvency, acquisition accounting) is preferred.
  • Strong skills in Excel-based financial analysis.
  • Exceptional project management abilities to meet deadlines across multiple client engagements.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word, with a working knowledge of PowerPoint being preferred.
