About the Role
This exciting new additional education position has been created to support increasing growth in theatre utilisation at Northern Beaches Hospital. This new role will orientate, induct, and brief new staff, graduates, and students to the facility and their roles and responsibilities during rotations and clinical placements. Ensure the safety of patients, consumers, and staff through the maintenance of safe practice.
Assist graduates and staff to apply problem-solving and reflective skills in their clinical practice. Identify the learning needs of the staff within the specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise staff and ensure compliance with mandatory training
- Provide written clinical assessment reports for graduate nurses
- Conduct Continuing Professional Development sessions
- Support the NUM Anaesthetics/PACU, Nurse Educator, and Clinical Coordinator of Anaesthetic/PACU
Requirements
- Current registration as a nurse with AHPRA
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification in a relative field of specialty or working towards
- Minimum 3 years' experience in perioperative services
- Extensive clinical skills and experience working in a perioperative suite
- Passion for quality, performance, and process improvement initiatives
- Coach, mentor, supervise, and provide preceptorship
- Hands-on teaching approach
- High level of planning and organising skills
- Well-developed oral and written communication
- High degree of computer literacy
- Prior experience in the private healthcare system will be well regarded
