About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering lessons that align with the VCE English curriculum, including teaching key concepts, texts, and skills prescribed for years 7-12. They will also be responsible for selecting appropriate texts, teaching students how to critically analyze these texts, and providing guidance on essay planning, drafting, and revision.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver lessons that align with the VCE English curriculum
- Select and teach appropriate texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction
- Teach students how to critically analyze texts, including exploring themes, characters, literary techniques, and socio-cultural contexts
- Provide guidance on essay planning, drafting, and revision
- Instruct students in the analysis of language use in a variety of texts
- Facilitate class discussions, debates, and oral presentations to develop students' oral communication skills and critical thinking abilities
- Plan and implement strategies to prepare students for VCE English examinations
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, strategies, and best practices for teaching VCE English effectively
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Relevant qualifications in Education (4-year bachelor degree containing minimum 1 year teaching qualifications)
- Current VIT registration required
- Willingness to support the school's ethos and Islamic faith values
- Proven experience teaching English in an Australian school setting, VCE experience highly regarded
- Ability to provide two education-based references from the last 5 years, including at least one from upper management
- Competitive salary, ranging from $75,000 to $115,000, based on experience
- Flexible start options for Term 4, 2024, or the 2025 academic year
