Medical Practitioner for Older Adults

Role Summary:

As a Specialist Medical Practitioner in the Older Persons Mental Health Service, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality primary healthcare to elderly patients with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to inpatients under the Older Persons Mental Health Service
  • Conduct thorough assessments and manage complex medical conditions in elderly patients
  • Collaborate with specialists, including geriatricians and hospital teams
  • Offer expert advice on older adults' mental health and wellbeing as part of senior clinical leadership
Requirements:
  • Proven knowledge and skills in implementing evidence-based practices and adhering to contemporary standards in OPMHS
  • Recent experience working with older adults in mental health settings
  • Ability to assess and manage risks for clients with mental health, dementia, or physical health issues
  • Capacity for independent clinical decision-making, teamwork, and providing clinical leadership in multidisciplinary settings
  • Excellent patient-focused qualities, including respect, empathy, and confident clinical judgment for safe and positive outcomes
