Strategic Commercial Analyst

The role of the Strategic Commercial Analyst is to play a pivotal part in shaping the organisation's strategic direction by delivering high-impact financial and strategic analysis, supporting investment decisions, and identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.

This position requires strong analytical skills, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex insights effectively. The ability to think strategically, lead initiatives, and partner with business units to ensure alignment between strategy and operational execution is also essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the annual strategy refresh process to ensure alignment with organisational goals and market dynamics.
  • Conduct environmental scans, competitor benchmarking, and internal performance reviews to inform strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to shape strategic direction and investment/divestment priorities.
  • Develop actionable business plans, including timelines, resource requirements, and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor progress against strategic initiatives and escalate risks or barriers to execution.
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards and performance scorecards to track progress against strategic and financial goals.
  • Support monthly and quarterly reporting cycles with clear, data-driven commentary and recommendations.
  • Lead the development of robust business cases for new initiatives, capital investments, and strategic projects.
  • Ensure business cases include financial modelling, risk assessments, and alignment with strategic objectives.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Finance or related field (CA/CPA desirable)
  • 5+ years' experience in commercial strategy, financial analysis, or consulting
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills with strong financial modelling capability
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex insights
  • Experience in aged care, healthcare, or property investment sectors is a plus
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills
