Job Title: Electrical Control Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Control Technician to join our team. As a full-time member of our production control department, you will be responsible for translating concept designs into electrical CAD submissions ready for fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incorporating electrical equipment, support systems, and busbars into design specifications
  • Collaborating with business directors to manage all aspects of manufacturing, including tender evaluation, design, estimation, and sourcing of parts
  • Preparing material lists from electrical drawings
  • Coordinating manufacturing processes, including workshop management, inventory control, testing, and preparing supporting documents such as dossiers and customer liaison
  • Familiarity with OHS protocols and implementing quality assurance measures in a ISO9001 environment
  • Inspecting and testing production machines, equipment, instruments, and control systems to identify faults
  • Adjusting, repairing, or replacing worn and defective parts and wiring, and maintaining production equipment
  • Knowledgeable about testing instrumentation and switchgear from various suppliers, specifications, and usage
  • Familiarity with installation and testing requirements for switchgear and associated wiring in switchboards
  • Familiarity with VIC SIR requirements for SCA
  • Familiarity with documentation required for SCA QA and customer expectations

Requirements:

  • PREFERRED Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering; ACCEPTABLE: Trade qualifications with extensive experience
  • Experience with 3D CAD Design, performing calculations for circuit breakers, wires, and other equipment to meet design requirements
  • Knowledge of ASNZS 61439, ASNZS 3000, ASNZS 60529
  • Attention to Detail
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret plans and standards
  • Accurate record-keeping
  • Performing calculations for circuit breaker ratings, wires, and other equipment
  • Configuring switchboards for power control, chillers, and refrigeration units, as well as other electrical operations for industrial consumers
