We are seeking a dedicated and passionate cook to join our team at Regis Aged Care in QLD. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our residents.
About the Role- Assist the Chef with food safety program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Prepare, cook, and provide quality food and beverages that meet resident needs and preferences.
- Supervise and deliver premium meal service, including menu planning, catering, infrastructure management, ordering, and quality service delivery.
- Maintain correct and hygienic food preparation and serving practices.
- Maintain and facilitate clean and hygienic work practices.
- Presentation of meals, enhancing them with garnishes, gravies, and sauces.
- Contribute to exceptional taste by preparing, cooking, and seasoning meals to resident satisfaction.
- Comply with Food Act by participating in food safety plan development and maintenance.
- FOLLOW FOOD SAFETY PROCEDURES TO PROPERLY COOK FOOD AND REGULATE COOKING TEMPERATURES.
- PREVENT CROSS-CONTAMINATION AND PREPARE FOOD TO MEET SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS.
- Inspect food upon delivery to determine quality and freshness, ensuring residents receive high-standard meals.
- Liaise with Assist the Chef and/or Chef Manager for menu planning, food preparation, and special occasions.
- Contribute to menu planning to meet resident dietary needs and preferences.
- Prepare, serve, present, and deliver food and refreshments in accordance with the Food Safety Program.
- Wash dishes and clean in accordance with the Food Safety Program.
- Assist in monitoring and recording FSP requirements, such as temperature recording, cleaning schedule completion, and receipt of goods.
- Report and assist in following up customer complaints and Improvement Request Forms for food services.
- Undertake compulsory education and training requirements, including chemical handling, customer service, fire safety, Food Safe program, hand washing competency, manual handling competency, mandatory reporting of abuse, and emergency training.
- Identify and manage risk related to OH&S, Risk Management, Quality/Compliance, and Safety.
- Two years of full-time experience in aged care or broader catering experience from commercial catering in high volume is preferred.
- Understand the impact of food cost management.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Trade qualifications and experience and understanding of special dietary needs.
- Strong personal presentation and grooming skills.
- Food Safety legislation knowledge is required.
