About the Role

The Senior Clinician works within a multidisciplinary team to provide timely intervention for consumers presenting to the emergency department.

  • Mental health, drug and alcohol assessments will be conducted along with psychosocial reviews of current treatment and investigations as necessary. Planning of care after discharge from the ED and assertive community follow-up may also be required.

The team collaborates closely with consultants to guide high-level clinical decision making that leads to quality outcomes for consumers.

  • Assessments and highlighting of risks and considerations related to substance use and its impact on mental health issues are key responsibilities.
  • Staff assess substance use issues, risks and management needs of clients presenting to the ED MH & AOD Hub service.
  • Risks and interactions around client's substance use and its impact on mental health issues are identified and highlighted.
  • Support and advice is provided regarding management of physical and emotional well-being in relation to substance use presentation.
Responsibilities

  • Management of physical and emotional well-being of patients in relation to substance use presentation is supported and advised upon.
Requirements
  • Certificate or Diploma in Nursing.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in AOD or a related sector.
  • Bachelor of Social Work or Occupational Therapy degree.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine and/or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of SSDTA and Victorian AOD service sector.
