We are seeking a skilled Content Designer to join our team.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that quality content is being developed across teams, and that it aligns to the strategic objectives of the organisation while meeting the needs of users.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leverage your expertise in content design to lead the content refresh of our website, ensuring all content is user-centered, plain language, and aligned with government standards.
  2. Audit, review, and rewrite existing content to improve readability, accessibility, and usability, as well as develop new content as required.
  3. Apply content design principles, including structured content, information hierarchy, and consistent tone of voice.
  4. Contribute to the development of a multi-channel content strategy which will set the direction for content, technology and information architecture enhancements for the website based on user journeys, user research and testing.
  5. Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear, concise, and accessible content.
  6. Ensure all content meets readability standards, WCAG accessibility requirements and is optimised for digital channels.
  7. Publish content to the content management system and manage content migration to the enhanced website.
  8. Contribute to content governance, style guides, and best practices to maintain content quality.
  9. Report regularly to stakeholders.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in content design, digital content management or content strategy in a government or complex organisational setting.
  2. Understanding of the Digital Service Standard, Australian Government Style Manual, and WCAG.
  3. Experience delivering content refresh or content migration projects.
  4. Ability to analyse and restructure content to improve clarity, usability, and engagement.
  5. Experience collaborating in agile, multidisciplinary teams and working with stakeholders on content projects.
  6. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  7. Experience with analysing website analytics and content performance to identify improvements and report to senior executives.
Technical Skills:
  1. Proficiency in digital publishing (GovCMS/Drupal experience preferred).
