Griffith University is seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join its Centre for Planetary Health and Food Security. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research group led by Professor Stephen Trueman, focusing on the health and expansion of the Australian Stingless Bee Industry.
The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting fieldwork and laboratory research to support the Hort Innovation funded project. Key areas of focus include bee nutrition, hive propagation, colony health, and pollination efficiency in crops such as avocado, lychee, macadamia, and strawberry. The successful candidate will also be expected to prepare milestone reports, presentations, and publications for beekeepers and growers, engage with stakeholders, and maintain a strong publication record.
This is a fixed-term, full-time position based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. The successful candidate will be required to work across other campus locations as needed. The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent qualifications/work experience in a relevant field such as horticultural science, pollination biology, or bee biology. They will also have research experience and skills in areas such as pollination biology, plant reproductive biology, and fruit or nut quality assessment, as well as proficiency in DNA metabarcoding, plant gene flow analysis, molecular biology, and statistical analysis.
The successful candidate will be expected to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in contributing to group research projects, mentoring, and supervising higher degree research students. They will also be expected to foster a positive culture and contribute to the university's values-led organisational culture.
The salary range for this position is Academic Research Fellow Grade 2, $110,464 - $131,180 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $129,243 - $153,481 per annum.
