Government Affairs Specialist

We're leading Western Australians to their intelligent energy future. As a Government Affairs Advisor, you'll play a pivotal part in managing engagement with key Ministerial and State Government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and coordinate responses to parliamentary questions, general government queries, and requests for information, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Draft briefing notes and correspondence for the Minister for Energy on matters related to operations, strategy, and customer-related issues.
  • Manage relationships with internal subject matter experts to gather relevant information and ensure alignment in communications provided to government stakeholders.
  • Support the Manager Government Relations in maintaining effective engagement with Ministerial offices, State Government agencies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to reputational risk management by ensuring all communications are consistent, clear, and aligned with strategic objectives and values.
About You
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as public policy, government, corporate affairs, law, or public relations is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a government-facing role, such as government relations, corporate affairs, customer service, or as an electorate officer.
  • A sound understanding of government structures, processes, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
